Glamificando Ganchos de Ropa

Necesitarás:

*ganchos de ropa que depriman y entristezcan la vista

*pistola de silicón

*tiras de retazos de tela

You´ll need:

¡Vuélvete loc@ rasgando en tiras tus retazos de tela de todos los colores y sabores!

Primera gota de silicón:

Sostén la tela encima hasta que seque el silicón...¡sin quemarte porfavor!

careful: HOT!

Ahora:

Coloca la siguiente gota de silicón y envuelve la tela, procurando tapar el borde del inicio de tu tira. Coloca otra gota de silicón, y envuelve la tela alrededor del gancho. Repite esto pasos envolviendo todo el gancho. Cuando se termine una tira de tela, comienza con otra (de la misma manera) ¡pero experimenta contrastando con distintas telas y colores!

Repeat these steps until you´ve wrapped the entire coat hanger. Try mixing and matching different fabrics!

Some clothes just need to hang pretty (or maybe all clothes!)

Refabing the Old and Ugly: Vintage Stool

Convirtiéndo lo Viejo y Feo: Banquito "Vintage"

My kids have these yucky stools in the TV room. They like to draw or eat cereal sitting on these things. No matter how many attempts I´ve made at making them disappear, they always seem to "mysteriously" return.

Mis hijos tiene estos horrendos banquitos en la sala de tele. Les encanta dibujar o comer cereal sentados en estas cosas. No importa la cantidad de veces que intento hacerlos desaparecer, siempre reaparecen "misteriosamente".
They´re hideousely practical, and they fit right under the center table. How can I compete with this?
Son asquerosamente prácticos y caben justo debajo de la mesa de centro. ¿Cómo competir con esto?

I took these two old and unused stools and decided to take action...All I needed was some paint, beautiful vintage style paper, transfer, and mate varnish.

Tomé estos dos banquitos viejos y poco usados y decidí entrar en acción... Solo necesité un poco de pintura, papel hermoso de apariencia antigua, transfer y barníz mate.

I took the paper...

Tomé el papel...
...traced the stool seat on it...

...tracé el asiento del banquito sobre él...
...and cut it out.

...y lo recorté.
I applied transfer onto the paper brushing in one direction, letting dry completely, then in the opposite direction. I repeated this 4 times (4 coats).

Apliqué el transfer al papel aplicando en una sola dirección, dejando secar bien, volviendo a aplicar después en la dirección contraria. Esto lo repetí 4 veces ( 4 capas).
After the transfer dried completely, I soaked the paper in warm water for a minimum of 40 minutes (Be sure to place paper face down in water. I turned it face up only for the picture).

Después de que el transfer secó por completo, remojé el papel en agua tibia por un mínimo de 40 minutos (Asegúrate de colocar el papel boca abajo en el agua. Yo lo dejé boca arriba solo para la foto).

After having soaked, I began to rub the paper off until I was left with a sort of plastic film. (set aside)

Después de haberlo remojado un rato, comenzé a retirar el papel, frotándolo bajo el agua, hasta que quedó una especie de película plástica. (deje a un lado)

I gave the stools 2 coats of water based paint and let dry well.

Le dí dos capas de pintura de agua a los banquitos, y dejé secar bien.

Patience my little grasshopper...

Ok. So when it actually WAS dry, I applied one coat of transfer to the seat,

Ok. Entonces cuando REALMENTE estaba seco, apliqué una capa de transfer al asiento,placed the film on top...

coloqué la película plástica encima...

and pressed down from the center out so as to get rid of all the air bubbles.

y presioné del centro hacia afuera para eliminar las burbujas de aire.

It looks shiny...that´s why I use mate varnish. It helps protect the paint and it brings the plastic, shiny feel of the transfer down a bit.

Se ve brilloso... por eso uso el barníz mate. Ayuda a proteger la pintura y opaca un poco esa sensación plastica y brillante del transfer.

yay! yay! yay!... and YES they DO fit under the center table (I had one cut down a bit)!!!!!

¡¡¡hurra, hurra por mi!!!... y SÍ, SI caben debajo de la mesa de centro (mandé a cortarle las patitas a uno de los banquitos)!!!Ceeeeleeeebrate good times COME ON!

Seriousely, on a good day... believe it or not. So, although I couldn´t do much, I decided to at least do SOMETHING. I added a little sunshine. First step towards getting my act together.

En serio, así es en un día bueno... aunque no lo creas. Así que, a pesar de que no pude hacer mucho, decidí por lo menos hacer ALGO. Añadí un poco de solecito. Primer paso a lograr el orden en mi vida.
