Bye, Bye Plastic / Adios al Plástico

We used to think recycling, eating friuts and veggies, organic as often as posible, and no junk food was enough. The more I read, the more I realize, this is in no way enough. So, amoung other things, I have begun my attempts to leave plastic in the past. I can´t do this with everything (toothpaste tubes, vitamin bottles, etc) but I can do my best to review and readjust.
We used to drain our pasta and veggies in a plastic colander,
keep our garlic in a plastic net-bag,
our vinager and cooking oil in plastic bottles,
nuestro aceite y vinagre en botellas de plástico, and, ironically, all our healthy snacks in plastic containers.

What moves me to do this (and by "this" I mean, replacing all the above mentioned with glass, ceramic, etc)? Plasticizers or Phthalates. I do not want my children eating in, or out of, anything as toxic as this. And, as I have always done, I will do everything I can to keep my babies safe. Plus, it makes my kitchen look pretty darn cute, right?

  3. I'm just beginning that journey... plastic seems to be everywhere! But you are so right, it's not good and we can't have a truly green home filled with lots of plastic. Have you heard about the zero waste home in the States? Amazing! I am so nowhere near that. But I try to start...

Working my way through your archives when I get a couple of spare minutes :)
